AT&T launches prepaid mobile broadband offerings
AT&T Mobility launched its own prepaid mobile broadband plans, weeks after rival Verizon Wireless decided to jump into the prepaid broadband market.
The new plans, called DataConnect Pass, work with all AT&T-certified netbooks and laptops. The pricing is identical to the plans that Verizon introduced earlier this month. AT&T is offering a daily plan for $15 with a cap at 75 MB of usage, a weekly plan for $30 with a cap at 250 MB, and a monthly plan for $50 with a 500 MB cap. AT&T said that users will receive a text and email message once either 30 minutes or 20 percent of their allotted data usage remains in a session.

Boost Mobile and Danica Patrick
Andretti Autosport announced today it has signed one of the top prepaid wireless service providers, Boost Mobile, to a sponsorship agreement in support of the team’s IZOD IndyCar Series program and drivers Danica Patrick and Adam Carroll.
Boost Mobile, which offers monthly unlimited plans with no long-term contracts, will be featured as a major associate sponsor of Patrick’s #7 GoDaddy.com car for the rest of the 2010 season and as the primary sponsor on Carroll’s car when he makes his IZOD IndyCar Series debut at Watkins Glen International later this season. The Boost Mobile logo appeared on Patrick’s car and suit at last week’s qualifications.

Prepaid plans way to go for iPads
IPAD users will be ushered towards prepaid data plans by carriers because billing systems are not yet worked out for more-profitable post-paid bills and because carriers cannot sell the iPad device through long-term contracts.
There are also concerns consumers are more susceptible to ''bill shock'', where customers run up huge bills for using data above their prescribed plan, on 3G-enabled iPads, which would increase complaints and consumer dissatisfaction.
